Wig versus
cranial prosthesis

While many consider a wig and cranial prosthesis to be the same. Their general purpose is quite different. The primary function of a wig is for cosmetic or fashion-focused wear, as well as for entertain on stage and screen. A cranial prosthesis is a medically necessary hair replacement option designed specifically for an individual with clinical hair loss. At times these pieces may qualify for full or partial coverage by an insurance company. Below I will discuss some of the elements that set ready-to-wear wigs apart from cranial prosthesis.
